5 Hair Tricks You Should Let Go Off

Posted by Main Admin on

It gets tricky sometimes letting go off something you're so used to. There's no easy way of saying this but you're doing more harm than good to yourself. The time to take action is now. If you've been doing the following, then you need re-think and re-strategize

1. Washing your hair too often

We get tempted to wash our hair every day especially when we have on a Teeny Weeny Afro (TWA). Don't fall into that temptation. No matter the length of your hair, washing at least once a week is encouraged. Washing your hair too often strips you hair off its natural oils.

2. Don't towel dry your hair

Raise your hand if you have never towel dried your hair. Honestly, we all have but it's time to drop that towel. The ordinary towel pulls on our hair and can cause hair breakage. Instead, use a microfiber towel. It's gentler on our hair. If you don't have a microfiber towel, that's okay, use an old cotton t-shirt to towel your hair.

3. The saga of co-wash

This is a sensitive one. Co-washing is using conditioners to "wash" your hair. Shampoos and conditioners are made for different reasons. Shampoos are meant to clean and conditioners are meant to moisturize. Don't get sucked into the trend of using conditioners to co-wash. Clean your hair with shampoos. They are more effective.

4. Brushing hair from the roots

Oh the pain! Just imagine the pain you feel from brushing your hair from the roots instead of the ends to the roots. Forget about the pain for a moment and think of all the knots and hair your lose. If your hair could scream, it would. Desist from brushing your hair from the roots. Start from the ends of the hair and gently make your way to the roots of your hair.

5. Over treating your hair

Yes there's something as over-treating your hair. Back to back hair dyeing is a no-no. Wait for at least 6 weeks before applying another hair dye to your hair. Allow your hair to breathe. If you're also in the habit of deep conditioning more than once a week, please stop. Over treating your hair can actually lead to your hair breaking. Talk about damaging your hair whilst trying to make it look healthier. Everything should be done in moderation. If your hair is badly damaged, then once a week is best. Otherwise, doing so once every 2 weeks also works well.

With this, we really do hope that you'll let go of these practices and take better care of your hair for healthier hair. For further hair consultation, please contact +233 204 600 464 or @eyanaturals on Facebook and Instagram.
