Conditioning Your Hair The Right Way
Posted by Main Admin on
One of the best ways to keep your hair healthy is to condition it frequently and properly using the right products. Conditioning your hair is an important element of hair care. Knowing what to do, how to do it and what products to use is beneficial in your hair care journey. Here are some conditioners you need to add to your hair care regimen.
Detangling 'Rinse Out' Conditioner
On washdays, an important element of the process you can't afford to miss is using your Detangling Conditioner. It is applied right after shampooing your hair and helps restore the natural oils lost during the shampooing process whilst moisturizing it. Essentially, it helps untangle the hair, provide moisture and gives your hair enough bounce.
To use, apply the detangling conditioner in your hair after you shampoo. With a wide tooth comb, detangling brush or your hands, detangle gently. Leave it in for about 5 to 10 minutes and thoroughly rinse it out with water.
Leave In Conditioner or Lotion
Natural hair tends to be dry. Before styling, it is important to make sure your hair is moisturized. This is where the Leave In Conditioner comes in. It is applied mostly when styling to moisturize and soften hair, making it easier to manage. This type of conditioner usually forms a layer over your hair which makes it softer and helps with detangling. The good thing about leave in conditioner is that it can be used on all hair types.
It is advisable to go in for a leave in conditioner with water as one of its main ingredients. This helps provide moisture to your hair which is very important especially if you have natural hair.
Hair masks are made to penetrate your hair in order to provide moisture as well as protein to your hair. This is used especially if you have dry and damaged hair. Apply it to your hair and leave it in for about 15-20 minutes. Rinse it out thoroughly with water.
For maximum benefits, use it about two to three times a week and get ready to see your hair radiant and shiny after using it consistently.
Deep conditioning is done when your hair has lost a lot of moisture and has become dry. If you've dyed or coloured your hair, deep conditioning should definitely be part of your regimen. It works best if low to medium heat is applied. After shampooing, apply the deep conditioning treatment to your hair. Cover your hair with a shower cap and apply heat for about 20-30 minutes. Rinse out thoroughly with water. You can do this once every two weeks.
