Hair Treatments - When To Choose What?

Posted by Main Admin on

Having healthy, luscious and beautiful hair doesn't just happen. Not only does it take consistency and patience, but knowing how to generally care for it. One of the many ways of keeping your hair healthy is to treat it often. Knowing what kind of treatment to opt for, is critical. Here are some hair treatments you ought to know about.

Hot Oil Treatment

This is one of the underrated hair treatments if we're being honest. However, its benefits are immense. Whether you're dealing with frizzy hair, dry or damaged hair, or dull-looking hair, you need a hot oil treatment

Procedure

As the name depicts, during a hot oil treatment, heat up some oil (either microwave the oil blend or place the oil in hot water whilst in a bowl) and apply from the ends to the roots of your hair. You can do this on damp hair or freshly washed hair (without conditioning). Cover your hair with a shower cap and apply medium heat for about 15-20 minutes. Massage your hair and scalp once done and wash off. The good thing about hot oil treatments is that its good for all hair types but particularly beneficial for curly hair due to how dry it tends to be.

Deep Conditioning Treatment

Natural hair, by its nature, is very dry. This is where Deep Conditioning comes in. To restore the moisture in your hair, deep conditioning regularly is essential. Apart from restoring moisture, it also helps to prevent damage, promote elasticity, restore the natural shine of your hair and particularly helpful to colour-treated hair, whether bleached or dyed.

Procedure

First, shampoo or wash hair. Apply your deep conditioning treatment in sections throughout hair. Do not apply detangling conditioner prior to this. Cover your hair with a shower cap and apply heat for about 10-45 minutes. Rinse out with just water.

Protein Treatment

For dry, damaged hair and hair which is shedding or breaking, Protein Treatment is your best bet. It helps repair hair damaged from overprocessing. Not only does it reduce the tendency of the hair to break but also fortifies weak strands and ends leaving the hair soft, smooth and supple. Protein Treatment is ideal for all hair types but beneficial to high porosity hair which tends to need more proteins compared to low porosity hair.

Procedure

After shampooing, apply the Protein Treatment from roots to ends, paying attention to the ends. Leave in your hair for 10-15 minutes and thoroughly rinse out. Use medium heat to quicken the process. Use it once weekly for really damaged hair and once every 6 weeks for moderately damaged hair. Protein Treatment can also be used as an intensive pre-shampoo treatment.

Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse

To be able to easily detangle, to achieve less frizzy hair whilst doing away with dandruff, choose Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) Rinse. This is because this kind of treatment balances the pH of the hair and scalp. Opting for this kind of treatment also helps prevent the occurrence of fungal and bacteria growth on the scalp. This fungal and bacteria growth is responsible for some types of hair loss and dandruff. ACV rinse is also ideal to stimulate hair growth by stimulating blood circulation from the scalp to the hair follicles.

Procedure

Mix one part of ACV to 3 parts water. Pour mixture in a spray bottle. After shampooing your hair, spray the mixture on your hair and scalp. Massage your scalp for about 3-5 minutes and allow the mixture to sit for a few minutes. Rinse hair with water.

Peppermint Oil Treatment

To reduce the production of excess oil on the scalp, balance the pH levels as well as treat dandruff, Peppermint Oil Treatment is the best choice.

Procedure

Peppermint oil is quite strong. To apply it directly on the scalp, mix about two drops of peppermint oil to a tablespoon of other hair oils such as coconut oil, avocado oil, shea oil or any other hair oil of your choice. Wet hair a little and apply the mixture on your scalp and let it sit for a few minutes before shampooing. Doing this at least once a month will contribute to the health of your hair.
