Dry Hair? Try These DIY Hair Masks
Posted by Main Admin on
One of the common complains of natural hair care is how dry the hair tends to be. This doesn't have to be your reality. Indulging in regular hydrating treatments does the trick. Apart from store bought products, there are a lot of items found in kitchen which could be used as well. Buckle up!
Aloe Vera
For centuries, Aloe Vera has been used in the beauty industry for both hair care and skin care. It is particularly beneficial to the hair due to its moisturizing effects. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, fatty acids and enzymes which work together to moisturize the hair.
All you need to do after harvesting the plant is to wash it thoroughly, cut into pieces and add your preferred oil to it. You could opt for coconut oil, castor oil or some pure oils. Blend till you achieve even consistency. Apply to your hair after shampooing, wear a shower cap and apply heat for about 10-15 minutes. Rinse with water, moisturize and style as desired.
Honey and Yogurt
Both honey and yogurt are perfect for adding moisture to dry hair. Depending on the length and thickness of your hair, mix about a half cup of yogurt with 2-3 tablespoonfuls of pure honey. Make sure it is well mixed with an even consistency. Wet hair and apply mixture through hair. Cover your hair with a shower cap and leave on for about 20 minutes whilst applying minimal heat. Rinse off.
Honey and Avocado
It's a good thing avocados are in season. This hair mask works magic on dry and damaged hair. Take a medium sized avocado and divide it into two. Scoop the avocado into a bowl and add 2-3 tablespoonfuls of pure honey. Mix this very well and apply it to wet hair. Cover your hair with a shower cap and leave on for 30 minutes. Rinse off after.
One major hack when it comes to taking care of natural hair is to keep on moisturizing. Hydrate your hair regularly for healthier hair. Regular hair treatments would also do your hair a lot of good. Try these DIY hair masks at least once every 2 weeks. You'll be glad you did.
