Types of Conditioners And What Each Does
Posted by Main Admin on
Conditioning your hair is an important element of hair care. This is to help restore your hair back to its healthy state. There are different types of conditioners available specially formulated to do specific things for your hair. Do you know what these are?
Detangling 'Rinse Out' Conditioner
Taking a cue from the name, this type of conditioner helps with detangling, especially if you have natural hair. It is applied right after shampooing your hair and helps restore the natural oils lost during shampooing as well as moisturize it. Particularly for natural hair, applying Detangling Conditioner after shampooing helps untangle the hair, provide moisture and gives your hair enough bounce.
To use, apply the detangling conditioner in your hair after you shampoo. With a wide tooth comb or your hands, detangle gently. Leave it in for about 5 to 10 minutes and thoroughly rinse it out with water.
Leave In Conditioner or Lotion
Leave In Conditioner is used mostly when styling. This provides moisture to your hair and makes it easier to manage especially when styling. This type of conditioner usually forms a layer over your hair which makes it softer and helps with detangling. The good thing about leave in conditioner is that it can be used on all hair types.
It is advisable to go in for a leave in conditioner with water as one of its main ingredients. This helps provide moisture to your hair which is very important especially if you have natural hair.
Hair Masks
Hair masks are made to penetrate your hair in order to provide moisture as well as protein to your hair. This is used especially if you have dry and damaged hair. Apply it to your hair and leave it in for about 15-20 minutes. Rinse it out thoroughly with water.
For maximum benefits, use it about two to three times a week and get ready to see your hair radiant and shiny after using it consistently.
Deep Conditioner
Deep conditioning is done when your hair has lost a lot of moisture, dry or damaged. It works best if low to medium heat is applied. After shampooing, apply the deep conditioning treatment to your hair. Cover your hair with a shower cap and apply heat for about 20-30 minutes. Rinse out thoroughly with water.
You can do this once every two weeks but if your hair is severely damaged, then once a week would be ideal until your hair is restored to health.
Applying conditioners, does help our hair immensely. Knowing when to use conditioners and the type of conditioners to use, plays a major role in the overall health of our hair. Hopefully, this post has thrown more light on the correct use of the different types of conditioners.
